News Sign-Right will be closed from Saturday, August 9 until Friday, August 29. There will be bingo on the night we reopen. The choir is taking a summer holiday. The next practice session will be on Saturday, September 6 at 2pm. Details of other future events are posted elsewhere on the website.
Two bits of good news: We will be having a concert at KGV College on December 10 to raise funds for the club. We have special guests, and No-Name the Clown and the Sign-Right Choir will be performing. Concert starts at 7.30pm. Doors open 7pm. Entrance by ticket only and the price is £5 (adults) / £3 (children under 16). Recently we have been in discussions with Southport Theatre, and have now managed to acquire a signed performance of Aladdin, the pantomime, on December 19 at 7pm. Please encourage your deaf family & friends to attend this production as it'll show the theatre there is a need for signed performances in Southport.

The Sign-Right Deaf Training Centre & Social Club is currently going through a period of change. Some new developments will already be apparent on the website whilst other changes will unfold in the weeks ahead. Carol Holden has become an Executive Trustee taking the place of Gemma Watkinson who is taking time out to look after her family. We wish Gemma much happiness and good luck as she prepares to welcome a new addition to her family in September. Subscriptions have been reduced to the single price of £3.50 for all classes. In addition, an entrance fee of 50p will be payable on each visit. Non-members pay £1 (adults) or 50p (juniors) per visit. Any members who have paid membership at original fees, please see Sue, Linda or Carol. Some special events are being planned for the first Friday of each month, and these will kick off with a Blind Auction on 7 September. Further details about these events will be made available on our What's On page. The popular Bingo Night will still continue twice a month. Many other innovations are planned, and these will be announced in due course. We would like to encourage you to bring your family & friends to our events, and to help us to build our Centre into a flourishing venue for social activities and a place where the deaf and hard of hearing can get help and support. |
