Anniversary Concert 2006

On December 1, a special 1st Anniversary Concert took place in the Drama Hall at KGV College to mark a year since Sign-Right was officially opened.

Following a few words from the College Principal, Mrs Anslow, the first half of the evening's entertainment included music from The Brass Bandits, a group of students from KGV College, and a piano recital from Eleanor Carey, another KGV student. Rachel Brookfield, a member of Sign-Right, signed Somewhere Over The Rainbow along with Operations Manager Linda Scott. Chief Executive Sue Butterworth also treated us to a couple of songs, and very well she did too!

After the interval, there was a raffle, and then the remainder of the evening was handed over to special guest Paul Whittaker from Music and the Deaf. Paul's enthusiasm and humour coupled with his extraordinary musical ability kept the audience enthralled, and there was plenty of participation too. Mention must be given to Paul's interpreter, Andy Higgins, who not only assisted Paul, but did a brilliant job in providing communication support for those that needed it.

It was an excellent evening, and profits from the event will be shared between Sign-Right and Music and the Deaf. Thanks must go to everyone who helped make this event a success, whether it be behind the scenes or on stage, and to all those who supported us on the night.
